Best Martial Arts Near Me
Is This The Correct Question?
No doubt one of Google’s most asked questions but is it the correct one?
What are you looking for?
- A fighters gym
- A martial arts gym
- A spit and sawdust club
- A Franchise
- The cheapest
- The nearest
- The one with the most Google reviews
- School of hard knocks
- Structured lessons
- Community
- Safety
The list goes on and on and on
Who could resist a gym with a rainbow?
So here is our advice after running a full-time professional academy for nearly 15 years, do this.
Try a few out, don’t marry the first club you find unless it really is love at first sight, then lucky you.
Geoff Thompson was known for his animal day training sessions that were brutal, is that suitable for your first club? I’m fifty now and I’ve trained for decades, I don’t fancy that type of training these days. But it might be just what you need right now.
I’ve met too many people over the years who joined “spit and sawdust” clubs. Said with some type of inverted snobbery and pride at the time. Many of those didn’t make it through the school of hard knocks and it tainted many a martial journey.
Is the nearest or the cheapest really the best way to decide on who will coach you or your children important values including discipline and integrity, is convenience the deciding factor on what could possibly be one of the most important decisions you make right now?

Check out a few clubs, read the reviews for sure, social proof is very helpful. But don’t be put off by one or two bad reviews either, some people are never happy, id check out what other reviews that person has made, you’ll often find a very angry bitter person visiting restaurants and clubs etc.
Try a few different arts, you might think you want self-defence and end up loving kickboxing, this happens all the time at our club, both ways too.
Things are often not what you expect and we are not shy. If you try our club, we will let you know of a more suitable club, because your growth and journey are more important to us than your money. If you are not a good fit, we will advise where is, other clubs in Lincoln know we have done this in the past.
Have fun looking and remember, post/during COVID restrictions, decent clubs will have loyal members to look after first. There will be waiting lists and if there isn’t id be asking why previous members are not flocking back. I know we are struggling to get all our members back in and deal with the numbers that want to return to training, new members for us are definitely on a waiting list.
