John really needs no introduction to those in the BJJ world and it has been a few years since he graced our mats due to lockdowns and restrictions

Well, in June 2023 John returned to the UK and our mats here at Function First Lincoln and it was as expected a fantastic seminar

This time John travelled over with his wife Melissa and I was lucky to partner up and train with her

We looked at spiderguard work and in Johns style, we hit it fast and precise with zero fluff

Considered by many to be one of the finest BJJ coaches on earth, his coaching style is unique and delivered like an engineer, he really does stand out

The seminar was well attended and it was nice to see members from other clubs here as well as good friend and coach Lyubo Kumbarov

The day after the seminar it was off to Sheffield for another session but first, we stopped off for coffee at our house and caught up on life and all that jazz

Next year the plan is to fly out to John and Melissas in Australia for a few weeks as well as the usual yearly tour to spend quality time with what have now become good friends

Oh, and i got my purple belt
