Concussion In Martial Arts

What We Are Doing

We do not say this with glee, it’s not going to be pretty, but we knew this many years ago and we changed the way we do things.
.
Over the next years, you will see a lot in the news about concussion and head trauma in sport. We took steps to look after our members many years ago and often in the face of convention and insurance companies and governing bodies. We swam against the tide because we know what’s right, not what LOOKS right, we do not play the politically correct game, we are our own authority.
.
Get this, the boxing Olympic commission banned head guards for men some years ago when the evidence of increased head trauma was clear. YET they kept head guards for ladies, now that’s progressive political correctness gone mad wouldn’t you say?
.
We banned headguards many years ago and headshots for under 16 years. We educate our adults very clearly and we train accordingly. When you figure out you can take a head shot without the world ending, (though of course, your world can end) that’s it, no need to hit the head any more. Only for competition, that’s all.
.
The body gets tougher with impact, it conditions, the brain gets weaker with impact. We are in the business of developing stronger people, not weaker, You are in good hands.
.
Remember in 2019 the gymnastics organisations were the focus for the media and the wave of negative press?. They were following elderly ladies, former gymnastic coaches down the street asking why they abused children in the 1980s or ’90s
.
Sadly you will be seeing this with martial arts coaches in the near future, not us. Well, if they come after us we are happy to answer any questions on TV, show how we train, refer them to blogs written over the last 6 years about this subject and videos of our introduction to white-collar boxing people, where we clearly explain the dangers.
.
Off the mats as on remember
